Last week of school. Day after Independence Day. Kiddos insane and ready to close it up, despite still having tests and final assignments, I am SO ready for summer vacation and lots of Jalopnik work.

How long are vacations here?

Six weeks to two months usually, the exact start and stop days sort of depend on the school, but usally it’s like that last two weeks of July and all of August. This year, I’m off Friday until the last week of August. Sooooooo ready to go, and the kids are as well. We’ve all checked out and it’s a madhouse.

Silveradette? Maybe? A monstrosity. That’s what it is.

You can slow cook in front of your computer like the rest of us! Gosh it’s too freaking hot here...

We have air conditioning. And it’s too cold for me anyhow. Because I find Japanese summer to be my favorite season. I’m all about that 90 degree weather. I don’t even sweat until like 110. That’s Fahrenheit, of course. New Mexico, Texas.
And the first person who says, “oh, those have a dry heat” can fuck off. Anyone been to Houston in July and August?

Ahhh! What was that?? It’s killing me..
I welcome more Kat in my Jalopnik. More cars of the Ku and scenery pics please.

haha, I was going to say that the “heavyness” of the heat is what kills me really. The humidity feels so heavy on me.
Checking right now, it looks like Tokyo is a bit cooler than Okazaki/Nagoya though. Still, 90F is a bit too much for me :)

Needs flames, and side pipes.

What the hell?! Teach me your ways. I can barely stand it when it’s 90 here in DC...

I know the feeling!

Same here. 2.5 weeks (although the last week is project week) to go and the kids are already going ballistic.

Wrong. Business in the front, party in the back = truck front, vette rear.

So what is it? shovelface? or drunk consequences?

Impossible to do anything at all, isn’t it?

Do you follow Jalop’s instagram? I post a lot there.

Unfortunately no. I’m not into the “Social Media” scene unless it involves old 3 wheelers. I may look into it now though.

Hey Kat, unrelated to your post, I am going to be moving to Japan in two weeks and I was wondering if you could give me some advice for a new foreigner in Japan? I will be living around Tokyo, I don’t have concrete host family details yet but I will be living around Tokyo. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.

When I went to Blinn College, this truck was there daily, provided this isn’t another fine example. It’s a kit truck from what my buddies in the car club down there told me. Apparently the guy is a B/CS local, and has been for a while! Small world, provided it’s the same truck.
